My goal was to design an elegant, avant-garde sans-serif font in a modern style.
This humanist font’s distinct style is achieved through the use of a large x-height, wide open counters and a light contrast in line width to improve legibility. The font is usable throughout Europe, featuring the 256 glyphs set in the middle european standard “MS Windows 1252 Western ANSI”.
To increase legibility, I designed ligatures as a built-in OpenType feature and used hybrid figures.
Agone is a long term project, and its distinct and minimalistic shapes are currently being developed into different font weights and italic forms.
